Toronto man arrested, charged with murdering partner last December: police
Investigators coordinated with national, international police agencies to return Abdul Ghafoori to Canada
Police have arrested and charged a 32-year-old Toronto man with first-degree murder over the death last December of a woman identified as his partner.
Officers with Toronto's fugitive squad and homicide unit coordinated with national and international police services to bring Abdul Ghafoori back to Canada, Toronto police said in a news release Saturday, without specifying the country he had been in.
Last December, police issued a warrant for Ghafoori's arrest after a missing woman was found dead inside a residence.
Investigators determined the woman's death was a homicide. They said in December that the woman had been in an "intimate partner relationship" with Ghafoori.
The woman, identified as 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana, was Toronto's 40th homicide victim of 2025.
Ghafoori was arrested on Friday at a Toronto airport, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning on a charge of first-degree murder.
Police urge anyone with information to reach out to investigators.
