Tim Tierney to head up Federation of Canadian Municipalities
First Ottawa-based president of advocacy group in more than 80 years
Beacon Hill-Cyrville Coun. Tim Tierney has been given some new national responsibilities.
Tierney was acclaimed this weekend as the president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) during their annual conference in Edmonton.
The FCM is an organization that advocates for municipal issues. Its membership includes nearly 2,000 municipalities, big and small, from across Canada.
In a statement, Tierney said he was "honoured to represent municipalities from coast to coast to coast."
"Together, we will tackle infrastructure gaps, build more housing, address homelessness and strengthen Canada’s future," he said.
Tierney is the first Ottawa-based president of FCM in more than 80 years.
