REDESSA has opened the application period for the sixth edition of its incubator in Reus until Tuesday, September 15, which this year, for the first time, includes an acceleration program for already established companies based in the city. The novelty expands a program that until now was aimed at launching projects and extends it to businesses seeking to grow.

The change comes with a specific objective in a city where the municipal incubator links part of its discourse to the growing weight of start-ups. Josep Baiges, councilor for Economic Promotion, Innovation, and Knowledge and CEO of REDESSA, maintains that the incubator has been key to positioning Reus as the sixth city in Catalonia in terms of the number of start-ups.

The new accelerator opens REDESSA to Reus companies that already want to scale

Baiges frames this edition as a further step within the program. The councilor states that the accelerator will offer a tailored program to the real needs of each company and will guide them in their growth phase.

The program will address financing, commercial strategy, innovation, and technology with the support of mentors and leading companies in the region.

Furthermore, REDESSA integrates this initiative into a local ecosystem that in recent months has added other business support initiatives, such as the Reus Sandbox. Baiges adds that the connection with the business community is one of the main strengths of the incubator's work environment and links it to the solid and competitive growth of projects.

Mentors will focus sessions on financing, regulation, and fundraising

Among the confirmed profiles are Juli Tecles, financial director of Borges International Group, and Núria Amigó, CEO and co-founder of Biosfer Teslab. Both will contribute experience in different areas of business scaling.

"It often seems like there's only the capital variable, but implementing a methodology with a strategic vision and good treasury management is fundamental" - Juli Tecles, financial director of Borges International Group

Tecles explains that his sessions will delve into project financing, new business creation, risk analysis, and the path to sustainability. He also frames his participation as a way to give back to the region the knowledge and experience accumulated over time.

Núria Amigó will share her experience in regulatory strategy for transforming products into medical devices and in raising innovation funds. In the same vein, she has underlined the importance of creating a network that allows for faster and safer progress.

Another of the recent backgrounds of the city's entrepreneurial ecosystem appears in the increase in start-ups announced this spring in Reus.

The evaluation will end in October and the mentoring will extend until May 2027

The calendar for this sixth edition sets the project evaluation between September 15 and October 15. Afterwards, REDESSA will define objectives and a work plan between October 15 and December 15.

The training and mentoring sessions will take place from January to May 2027.

Baiges concludes the approach for this edition with a specific goal for companies already operating in the city. The councilor maintains that the launch of the accelerator seeks to help these projects grow, generate employment, and bring more value to Reus and its surroundings.
