Teledyne Webb Research to Provide APEX Profiling Floats for US Navy
Teledyne Webb Research has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy's Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) for the production and delivery of APEX profiling floats. The contract has a total potential value of up to $51.1 million over a three-year ordering period.
The contract provides for the manufacture and delivery of APEX profiling floats in accordance with contract requirements established by NAVOCEANO.
APEX profiling floats provide unattended measurements of temperature, salinity and pressure throughout the water column, operating to depths of 2,000 meters. Designed for both air and surface deployment, including parachute-assisted aircraft launch, the systems enable rapid ocean data acquisition in remote and operationally complex environments.
For 28 years, Teledyne Webb Research has supplied APEX floats to NAVOCEANO, as part of their support of oceanographic data collection for government, research, and operational customers.
