Teen girl dead, 2 others airlifted to hospital after crash near Cornwall

Emergency crews shut down nearby road while investigation continues

A 16-year-old girl has died and two others have been airlifted to an Ottawa-area hospital after an early morning crash near Cornwall, Ont., according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Emergency crews responded to the Headline Road area near County Road 19 in South Stormont around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday after getting reports of a single-vehicle collision, OPP said.

Investigators said a teenage girl from Cornwall was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured.

They were taken to a local hospital, OPP said, before being airlifted to an Ottawa-area hospital.

“To respect the privacy of the families involved, no further information will be released,” OPP wrote in a news release Sunday morning.

Headline Road was closed in both directions between County Road 19 and County Road 42 after the crash.
