Pitt Meadows Canada Day celebrations will have plenty of activities for children and parents alike.
The Pitt Meadows Museum will be hosting a Canadian maple leaf craft where children will colour a wooden maple leaf, attached to a string like a necklace, and put beads on it.
“We always try to pick something Canadian-themed; hence the maple leaves. Since the celebrations include younger children, we ensure the craft is suitable for all ages, so colouring and beading usually works well,” said curator, Keagan Nagy
They will also have stickers for children to colour featuring things like bugs, museum artifacts, animals, and more.
The craft will promote the museum’s summer program called Heritage Thursday.
For the adults, who want to get their fill of history, the museum will be bringing their history panels detailing the history of Pitt Meadows, for people to read, in addition to mini-books for people to take home.
Last year around 300 people stopped by the museum booth, said Nagy.
“I think that it’s important for the Museum to be present at community events especially Canada Day to show our support and love of the community that entrusts us with collecting its history. Community is at the core of Pitt Meadows. By attending events and engaging with the community we can show the City how much we love and appreciate being a part of it,” noted Nagy.
“Events like this celebrate our community and its citizens, and seeing that positive attitude at community events makes it important for us to be a part of all of it.”
