SiGMA opens applications for 2027 Africa startup pitch
The Cape Town competition will select six early-stage companies to present to investors during the SiGMA Africa Summit in February 2027
SiGMA, which organizes international events for the gaming, fintech and digital technology sectors, has opened applications for its 2027 Africa Startup Pitch, giving early-stage companies a chance to present their businesses to investors and industry executives at the SiGMA Africa Summit in Cape Town.
The competition is part of the summit’s Startup Village, where more than 100 startups are expected to participate. Six companies will advance to the live pitch competition, scheduled for February 17, 2027, where founders will present their businesses to venture capital investors and other industry participants.
Applications close on January 6, with the shortlist expected later in January. Companies selected for the final stage will then submit pitch decks ahead of the event.
The programme is aimed at startups working in gaming technology, artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain, payments, affiliate technology and esports. Companies are generally expected to be at the seed or Series A stage, although final selection will depend on the quality of each business and its relevance to the summit audience.
The format is designed to give founders access to potential investors and commercial partners while placing them within the wider event. Participation in the Startup Village provides a presence at the summit, while the six finalists receive additional exposure through the live competition.
The programme does not guarantee funding. Any investment would depend on discussions between individual startups and interested investors.
For companies operating in the sectors covered by the event, the competition also provides an opportunity to meet investors and business contacts in Africa without having to travel to Europe or the Middle East for similar industry events.
