Severe thunderstorm warning lifted for southern Alberta

Yellow watch for severe thunderstorm remained in effect Tuesday night

Environment Canada lifted a yellow warning for severe weather Tuesday evening after a storm rolled through parts of southern Alberta.

The agency said damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain were possible as the storm moved from Claresholm to areas near Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

The initial warning, issued earlier Tuesday afternoon, was for a dangerous thunderstorm capable of producing baseball-sized hail and destroying buildings and trees.

A yellow watch for a severe thunderstorm remained in effect for much of the area from Claresholm east to Hays and extending south to the U.S. border as of Tuesday night.
