Senior technology executive to lead Ontario Tech University's Board of Governors

Laura Money appointed Chair; four new governors begin their terms

Ontario Tech University has appointed technology and innovation leader Laura Money as Chair of its Board of Governors, effective September 1.

Ms. Money is Executive Vice-President and Chief Information and Technology Innovation Officer at Sun Life. She brings more than 30 years of experience in technology, innovation, digital transformation, governance and strategic leadership. The Women’s Executive Network (WXN) recently named her one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Honorees for 2026, with recognition in the AI and Technology category.

She joined Ontario Tech’s Board of Governors in September 2024 and served as Vice-Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership roles focused on technology and business transformation and has contributed to a range of governance and community organizations. As Board Chair, she will work closely with fellow governors and university leadership to help advance Ontario Tech’s strategic priorities and continued growth.

Ms. Money succeeds Laura Elliott as Chair. Ontario Tech sincerely thanks Ms. Elliott for her many years of dedicated service to the university.
