Saskatoon man, 30, drowned at Lake Diefenbaker on Saturday

RCMP say man's body recovered on Sunday

RCMP say a 30-year-old man from Saskatoon drowned at Lake Diefenbaker over the weekend.

Police responded to Danielson Provincial Park, located 109 kilometres south of Saskatoon, after reports of a drowning.

Sgt. Mark Langager, with the Outlook RCMP detachment, said officers received a 911 call at approximately 4:45 p.m. CST on Saturday.

"Two men were on a paddleboard when they fell off. One was able to make it to shore while the other drowned. Neither were wearing life-jackets," Langager said.

The man who made it to shore was taken to hospital.

Investigators and a dive team found the 30-year-old's body on Sunday. His identity has not been released, but his family has been notified.

RCMP say there is no criminal element to the case and it is considered a sudden death investigation. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has taken charge of the investigation.

"What's concerning to us is the amount of people taking part in water sports and recreation on the water that aren't wearing life-jackets," Langager said.

RCMP encourage anyone taking part in recreational activities on the water to wear a life-jacket.
