Roads flooded in Val-des-Monts, residents asked to stay indoors
Road closures due to heavy rain started Saturday evening
The MRC des Collines de l'Outaouais police service is asking some residents to remain home on Sunday after several roads were closed due to flooding in the Saint-Pierre-de-Wakefield area of Val-des-Monts, Que., including a section of Route 307.
The Municipality of Val-des-Monts wrote just after midnight on Sunday that severe thunderstorms overnight had caused the flooding and teams on the ground were in the process of securing the roads.
Part of Route 307 was closed around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, according to Quebec's Ministry of Transporation website. Police confirmed to Radio-Canada that Route 307, along with several others, remained closed Sunday morning.
Lieutenant Josée Forest said Chemin de la Montagne and Chemin de l'Église have been partially washed out by heavy rain and should be avoided.
"People are advised to stay home and not to travel unless they have an urgent reason to go out," she told Radio-Canada in French.
The Municipality of Val-des-Monts was also urging residents to stay at home and call 9-1-1 in case of emergency.
