RCMP say Quebec man researched chemical weapons, planned attack for ISIS

RCMP say 24-year-old intended to carry out attack on behalf of Islamic State

A 24-year-old Quebec City man has been charged with terrorism-related offences, according to federal police. The RCMP say Louay Angoud intended to carry out an attack on behalf of the Islamic State.

He is alleged to have communicated online with members of a terrorist group and gathered information to build a chemical weapon that could be used to poison Canadians.

His charges are the following:

Angoud appeared at a Quebec City courthouse Thursday via video link from an RCMP station.

He is scheduled to return to court in Quebec City on Sept. 28 for his bail hearing.

He is being defended by legal aid.
