Environment Canada anticipates 50 to 100 mm of rainfall between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Sunday in anticipation of prolonged heavy rainfall.
The statement said 50 to 100 mm could fall between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon impacting the majority of mainland Nova Scotia.
"Rainfall rates of 15 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Bands of rain are expected to track repeatedly over some areas, leading to higher totals," the weather statement read.
"Water pooling on roads may make travel more difficult in some areas. Localized flooding may occur in low-lying areas."
On Friday, CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland said there is some potential for "very soggy conditions" with thunderstorm potential on Sunday.
He said people should keep an eye on low-lying areas, basements if they're prone to taking on water and road conditions.
"Some roads could be washed out with these rainfall amounts," he said.
