Pour weather: More rain on the way for Edmonton this weekend
Special weather statement issued by Environment Canada
Edmonton's soggy summer is set to continue with more rain in the forecast, after a weekend deluge that saw more than 100 millimetres fall on some areas of central Alberta.
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather statement calling for more rain in Edmonton and across central Alberta.
The weather agency says more rain is expected to fall from Friday evening through Sunday with totals of 30 to 60 mm possible. It comes after a recent significant rainfall that caused overland flooding and pushed municipal wastewater systems to the limit.
"With the ground already saturated from the storm this past weekend and with rainfall totals for the month of June well above normal, additional rain will increase the risk of overland flooding, washouts and potential impacts to infrastructure," the weather statement said.

However, the weather agency says there is "low certainty" about the location of rainfall and the forecast could change.
"The area of heaviest rain is forecast to fall in a narrow band, which could lead to more localized impacts than we observed last weekend. The area will become clearer as the system approaches later this week," says the weather statement.
Environment and Climate Change Canada notes that another system is forecast Sunday night into next week that "may bring additional heavy rainfall to vulnerable areas of central Alberta."
