Portugal’s digital transformation is creating a bigger role for cloud specialists

Portugal’s technology market has spent years building its digital infrastructure. The current challenge is making that infrastructure useful for a new generation of AI driven applications and more connected business systems.

For enterprises, that transition can expose gaps between legacy applications, cloud environments and the data needed to support AI. Modernization projects consequently require more than technical migration. They also require decisions about architecture, governance, integration and long term scalability.

The PwC 2025 EMEA Cloud Business Survey found that 94% of organizations planned to adjust or expand their cloud architecture. At the same time, 82% said they were refining their cloud approach because of geopolitical and regulatory changes.

AI is adding another layer to that equation. PwC found that 86% of respondents considered agentic AI capabilities an important factor when selecting cloud providers, although only 29% were already scaling agentic AI.
