Police watchdog called in after Dartmouth hit and run
Halifax Regional Police are referring a hit and run to the Serious Incident Response Team after a 58-year-old man was injured Sunday morning in Dartmouth.
Police say in a media release that officers spotted a pickup truck with no licence plates parked off Yorkshire Avenue Extension around 10:35 a.m.
When officers approached, the truck sped out of the lot. Police pursued the truck with lights and sirens, but the vehicle failed to stop and struck another car at an intersection near Windmill Road.
Paramedics took the driver of the car to hospital with serious injuries.
The truck fled across the MacKay Bridge toward Halifax, and police are still searching for it. The vehicle is described as a newer-model black Ford F-150 with a tonneau cover.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
