Police say 2 RCMP officers shot by man in Melville, Sask.
Suspect has been arrested, officers taken to hospital
RCMP provide update after 2 officers shot by man in Melville, Sask.
Two RCMP officers were shot and taken to hospital in Melville, Sask. after responding to an assault call on Sunday night.
Police say they got the call for help at about 9:35 p.m. CST Sunday, and were sent to a home on 8th Avenue West.
RCMP say a gun was fired multiple times and two police officers were hit. They have been taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.
A suspect was arrested at about 2 a.m. after a standoff that lasted several hours. A second person also left the residence and was arrested, but was quickly cleared of any involvement in the shooting.
Police say there is no elevated risk to the public. So far, there are no charges, but the RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
Saskatchewan RCMP are expected to provide more information at 9:30 a.m.
