Police investigate as wildfire 'started deliberately'
A field fire in Mountsorrel was "started deliberately", the fire service has said.
Multiple fire crews were called out at 17:29 BST on Tuesday to the blaze in Granite Way.
Four small fires had been lit nearby and four young people were "found to be acting suspiciously", Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said.
Descriptions of the four were reported to Leicestershire Police and an investigation was now under way, the force said.
Crews from Bistall, Central and Loughborough stations, and a tactical response vehicle from Loughborough, helped bring the fire under control, the fire service added.
A spokesperson for the service said: "To assist the police investigation, high-quality CCTV captured from our appliance cameras, showing the same group walking through the area, will be handed over as evidence.
"Deliberate fires endanger our communities and tie up vital emergency resources that could be needed elsewhere."
