Plan lodged to replace 'outdated' fire station
Plans to build a new fire station in Nottingham to replace an "outdated" facility have been lodged.
A application submitted to Nottingham City Council seeks permission to build a three-storey facility next to the existing Stockhill Fire Station.
If approved, the new fire station will comprise training and community spaces, a gym, administrative offices and specialist equipment and maintenance areas.
According to planning documents, the existing building on Stockhill Lane in Basford will be demolished once its replacement is operational.
A report submitted to the city council states the application is a "significant opportunity to replace and modernise an outdated fire station".
It adds: "The proposed development will provide a modern, efficient, and fit-for-purpose facility capable of meeting current and future operational requirements, while enhancing the delivery of emergency services and improving the working environment for staff.
"The scheme has been carefully designed to maximise operational effectiveness, promote sustainability, and contribute positively to the local area."
