Woman in her 30s dies after she was struck while walking in marked crosswalk
Calgary police say a woman in her late 30s died after she was struck by a commercial truck Friday afternoon.
It happened around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bow Trail S.W. and 37 Street S.W., near Westbrook Mall.
Police say the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a truck turning into the intersection.
She was taken to hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Police say the driver of the truck was a man in his 60s, who remained on scene following the collision. The investigation is ongoing, but police say they do not believe speed or impairment were factors.
The intersection was closed for several hours during the police investigation. It reopened Friday night.
