Orange Egypt And Huawei Deploy World’s First CCIC Microwave Technology
The technology is designed to address spectrum scarcity by increasing microwave spectrum efficiency by up to 400%, allowing up to four high-capacity links to operate simultaneously on the same frequency channel without signal degradation.
Orange Egypt and Huawei have announced the successful deployment of the world’s first Co-Channel Interference Cancellation (CCIC) microwave technology, marking a significant development in wireless backhaul and spectrum efficiency.
Huawei provided its microwave solutions, software-defined interference cancellation algorithms and technical expertise to design, test and integrate the CCIC solution into Orange Egypt’s nationwide network. The deployment is expected to strengthen Egypt’s digital infrastructure by supporting high-speed mobile broadband connectivity and future 5G enterprise and consumer services.
The initiative was supported by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt, whose role in maximizing national spectrum resources and supporting advanced telecommunications technologies contributed to the deployment.
“Our long-standing partnership with Huawei Egypt continues to set new benchmarks for innovation in the telecommunications sector. By deploying this world-first CCIC solution alongside Huawei, we are directly overcoming spectrum bottlenecks and reinforcing our commitment to delivering a world-class, future-proof digital infrastructure for our customers across Egypt.”
– Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology & Information Officer, Orange Egypt
“Huawei is proud to deepen its strategic collaboration with Orange Egypt to introduce this pioneering CCIC microwave innovation to the market. Through our close technical cooperation, we have demonstrated how cutting-edge interference management can unlock unprecedented network performance. Together with Orange Egypt, we remain dedicated to building seamless, highly efficient, and reliable connectivity solutions that support Egypt’s national digital transformation agenda.”
– Engineer Mohamed Youssef, Key Account Executive, Huawei Egypt
The deployment builds on the long-standing partnership between Orange Egypt and Huawei, which has included 5G infrastructure, Massive MIMO, E-band microwave backhaul, energy-efficient base stations and enterprise cloud services.
