Neuron e-scooters and bikes have been removed from Waterloo region after company sold
Neuron Canada has been purchased by Lime Technology Canada
People who use the orange e-scooters and bikes that have been available to rent in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo will notice they're now gone.
The region announced on Friday that the company that owned them, Neuron Canada, has been purchased by Lime Technology Canada.
The region had an agreement with Neuron Canada until October, but because of the sale, Neuron is no longer providing the rentals and are working to remove all their scooters and bikes from the region.
The region said Lime has expressed interest in taking over the rental program and will work with regional staff to figure out a way to deliver the same experience people came to expect from Neuron.
The electric scooter and bike service was introduced in the region in April 2023 with 500 bikes and scooters available to rent.
The company expanded their service and rental stations in the region in 2024.
