N.B. man charged for smuggling firearms into Canada: CBSA

A 57-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle firearms and magazines into Canada.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says Gaylon Smith was referred for a secondary examination at the River de Chute port of entry in New Brunswick while returning to Canada from the United States on Monday.

According to a news release Wednesday, border services officers searched the vehicle alongside a CBSA detector dog team where they detected and seized:

Smith appeared in court on Tuesday and is set to appear again in court on Sept. 14.

CBSA says an investigation related to offences under the Customs Act is ongoing.
