'Masterpiece' WW2 film among best movies of 2025
A war movie has been praised by members of the public who believe it showcases "what Oppenheimer should have been." High praise for the film, released in 2025, is clear to see on iMDB not least for the performances of Rami Malek and Richard E. Grant.
Many believe the film, which some described as a "masterpiece", is up there with Saving Private Ryan as one of the best war films ever released. Reviews of Nuremberg hail it as a fascinating look into the preparations before the Nuremberg trials which followed the end of World War 2. Russell Crowe stars and Colin Hanks, Michael Shannon, and Lydia Peckham feature.
One review of the film reads: "A brilliantly acted masterpiece. Russel Crowe absolutely steals the show, with a captivating performance as [Hermann] Göring. His screen presence is benefitting for such a role, even though he uses a slightly higher register to speak in that his usual rumbling baritone. Remi Malek contributes his usual intensity, and he and Crowe play off excellently against each other.
"This is film is a must watch for fans of history and movies alike, but is an essentially watch for those who would prefer we collectively forget what atrocities we are capable of as a species. We must never be allowed to forget, lest we repeat it. Everyone should watch this."
Another reviewer observed that Nuremberg does what Oppenheimer had set out to do. The Oscar-winning film followed the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his creation of the atomic bomb, but focused on the impact of such an action on the world and the war.
They wrote: "Wow, haven't seen a movie THAT good in years. Even though it's not a high action movie (like Mission Impossible), it was great to see it on the big screen since it was so engrossing. Best acting I've seen in years. Oscar should go to Russell and Ramy for sure. This is the movie Oppenheimer should have been."
Others were full of praise for Crowe's lead performance as Goring. A reviewer wrote: "How was Russell Crowe not nominated for Best Actor? Russell Crowe delivered an unbelievable performance as Hermann Goring. How was he not nominated for best actor and how was this powerful movie not nominated for Best picture?
"Rami Malik was excellent also. The movie based on a true story has meaning that is relative today. As Mark Twain said History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes. I highly recommend seeing it."
