The Toronto Maple Leafs took Gavin McKenna first overall at the NHL draft. The 18-year-old winger from Whitehorse's selection was announced by Canadian pop star Justin Bieber. The Vancouver Canucks took Caleb Malhotra at No. 3. The Toronto-born centre's father, Manny, was recently named the team's head coach. (June 27, 2026)
