Man charged with attacking police officers
A man has been charged over an attack on two police officers as they tried to detain him.
One officer was hit on the head with a baton by a man who then fled the scene on Soho Road, Birmingham, West Midlands Police said.
Mahroy Stephenson, 30, is accused of wounding an officer with intent and assaulting a second one on 3 July. He was also charged with assaulting an officer during his arrest on Milner Road in the city on 30 July, the force stated.
Stephenson, of Sommerfield Road, Birmingham, who appeared before magistrates earlier, is also accused of wounding a man and a woman with intent and the theft of a necklace and bracelet worth £9,000 on 20 June.
Stephenson is due at Birmingham Crown Court on 28 August.
In total, he has been charged with three counts of section 18 wounding, two of assault by beating and one of theft.
