Man, 54, charged with attempted murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman suffered serious head injuries.
Essex Police was called to a disturbance near Regina Road, Chelmsford, at about 16:30 BST on Saturday.
Officers found a woman who needed immediate medical attention. She remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Mark May, 54, of Falmouth Road, Chelmsford, has been charged with attempted murder, three breaches of a restraining order, assaulting an emergency worker and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Police said May had been taken to hospital for medical treatment. He had been taken into custody after being discharged.
He was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday.
