Man, 27, dies after being shot in car in city's east end: Toronto police

Raghav Sharma succumbed to injuries Thursday after being shot last week, police said

A 27-year-old man has died after being shot in a car in the city's east end last week.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the Lawrence Avenue E. and Underhill Drive area shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 13, the Toronto Police Service said in a news release Sunday.

The victim, Raghav Sharma, 27, and the suspect had been in separate vehicles when the suspect shot Sharma, according to police.

Sharma, of Caledon, Ont., was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on Thursday, police said.

On Saturday, a 23-year-old man from Stouffville, Ont., turned himself in and was charged with second-degree murder, police said. He was scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning.

This is Toronto's 25th homicide of the year, police said.
