Major fire at scrapyard on industrial estate
Multiple crews are tackling a fire at a scrapyard on a Doncaster industrial estate.
The fire service said it was now scaling back the operation but, at its height, nine engines were at the scene on Bootham Lane in Hatfield.
The blaze started among some scrap cars and tyres on the property before spreading to nearby vegetation, it said.
Crews will remain on the site overnight and into tomorrow but the blaze is now under control, a spokesperson added.
Bootham Lane remains closed, according to the police, who asked the public to avoid the area.
The fire service urged anyone living nearby to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke.
