Kuehne+Nagel opens new technology centre in India
Kuehne+Nagel has opened a new Tech Centre in Chennai, India, expanding its global engineering capabilities and supporting the development of its proprietary digital logistics platforms.
The new centre will focus on developing and scaling technology used across the logistics group’s global operations, including solutions for managing sea and air freight shipments.
By early 2027, Kuehne+Nagel expects around 250 technology experts to work at the Chennai facility. The company is working with Accenture to support the build-up of the workforce and accelerate the centre’s development.
Centre to support global freight platform
One of the key products supported by the Chennai team will be SALOG, Kuehne+Nagel’s core digital forwarding platform for managing sea and air freight shipments worldwide.
The company said developing its core platforms internally will allow it to introduce new capabilities faster and deploy them across its global network.
“Developing our core platforms in-house allows us to innovate faster, scale globally, and continuously improve the customer experience,” said Marcus Claesson, Chief Information Officer, Kuehne+Nagel.
Kuehne+Nagel selected Chennai due to the city’s established technology ecosystem and access to engineering and digital talent. The facility will complement the company’s existing global technology operations.
The investment follows other digital initiatives by Kuehne+Nagel, including the rollout of its cloud-native KN SwiftLOG warehouse management platform across more than 1,000 sites globally. The platform includes agentic AI capabilities.
