Kitchen Appliance Startup EDT Raises $2.4 Million in Funding Led by Sauce VC
Mumbai-based kitchen appliance brand EDT has raised $2.4 million in a funding round led by existing investor Sauce, as the company looks to build inventory ahead of the festive season and expand into beauty gadgets.
The funding round also saw participation from venture debt firm Alteria Capital, along with individual investors Raul Rai, co-founder of Nicobar; Shibam Das and Arindam Paul of Atomberg; Ajith Pai, chief operating officer of Delhivery; and Anushree Tainwala, chief business officer of Samsonite, South Asia. Existing investors also participated in the round.
The latest funding comes as EDT works on strengthening its inventory ahead of the festive season. The company is also expanding beyond its kitchen appliance business into beauty gadgets as it looks to broaden its product portfolio.
Sauce, which was already an investor in EDT, led the latest funding round. The participation of Alteria Capital and several founders and senior executives from consumer and technology companies adds to the investor group supporting the Mumbai-based brand.
EDT operates in the kitchen appliance segment and is now looking to use the fresh capital as it prepares for higher demand during the festive period. The company’s expansion into beauty gadgets also marks an extension of its product focus beyond kitchen appliances.
The funding brings additional capital into EDT at a time when consumer brands are preparing their inventory and operations for the festive season. For EDT, the new capital is expected to support inventory building while the company develops its presence across additional consumer product categories.
The participation in the round includes investors with backgrounds across consumer brands, kitchen appliances, logistics and venture debt. Raul Rai, co-founder of Nicobar, Shibam Das and Arindam Paul of Atomberg, Ajith Pai of Delhivery, and Anushree Tainwala of Samsonite, South Asia, are among the investors who participated alongside Alteria Capital and EDT’s existing backers.
With the latest $2.4 million funding, EDT is continuing its expansion in the consumer appliance market while adding beauty gadgets to its product portfolio. The company is also focusing on inventory preparation ahead of the upcoming festive season.
