Iran wins four medals at 2026 International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence
Iran’s national Artificial Intelligence Olympiad team has secured one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the third International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).
Held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from August 2 to 8, the third edition of the IOAI brought together more than 500 talented students from around the world in one of the newest international science Olympiads.
Shayan Reza-Zadeh won a gold medal for Iran, while Mohammadreza Darvishi and Mohammadamin Nazmfar secured silver medals. Mani Manjipour also won a bronze medal.
Iran had previously achieved two silver and two bronze medals at the second International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, held in Beijing, China.
The latest achievement adds to a series of strong performances by Iranian students in major international science competitions this year.

Iran’s national physics Olympiad team delivered a stellar performance at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), winning three gold medals and two silver medals at the prestigious competition, which was held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from July 4 to 12 and brought together more than 400 high school students from over 90 countries.
Iran’s national mathematics Olympiad team also won the championship title at the fourth International Mathematics Competition of Shanghai (IMSC 2026), finishing first among 49 teams after securing four gold and two silver medals, ahead of Poland and Brazil.
Iran has also maintained a strong presence at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
At the 66th edition of the competition in Australia in 2025, the Iranian team ranked 12th worldwide with two gold, three silver and one bronze medal, improving from 19th place the previous year.
At the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2025) in the Philippines, Iranian students won three gold medals and one silver, securing second place overall among 81 participating countries.
