Indian Consulate in New York, UN Permanent Mission celebrate India's 77th Republic Day with diaspora
Despite inclement weather with the massive snowstorm, as well as impediments created on roads and highways, Indians and Indian Americans tried their best to get to the Indian Consulate in New York City to participate in the celebration of India’s 77th Republic Day.
The Consul General in New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan conducted the flag hoisting ceremony, and read out the speech by India’s President Droupadi Murmu to the nation, which was delivered on January 25, 2026. President Murmu’s speech which higholighted the timeless values of the Constitution and the vital role of citizens at home and the Indian diaspora abroad in building a ‘Developed India.’
During the event, the Consulate recognized the outstanding achievements and contributions of the 2nd generation Indian diaspora members across diverse fields. It felicitated Ronit Karki and Jiya Jadhav for their commendable accomplishments.
