Hsiao addresses Taiwan Tech Summit in Silicon Valley

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) delivered a prerecorded video address Saturday to the 2026 Taiwan Tech Summit in Silicon Valley, calling for deeper Taiwan-US exchanges involving technology, talent, and startups.

The summit was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California and brought together Taiwanese professionals, technology companies, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders from Taiwan and the US, per a press release.

Hsiao said Taiwan is actively promoting its 10 Major AI Infrastructure Projects and working closely with the US technology community to expand talent and startup exchanges.

“Cutting-edge technologies must be rooted in universal values such as freedom, transparency, and democracy,” Hsiao said.

She said it was an honor to address the summit, which she described as the largest Taiwan-focused cross-industry event in the US. She also highlighted events held alongside the summit, including Talent Taiwan 2026 US Outreach and Startup Island TAIWAN Demo Day.

Hsiao said Taiwan is a key hub in the global AI supply chain and a partner in technological innovation. Taiwan will continue working with the US technology community to create mutual prosperity, she said.

The vice president also highlighted government-led efforts this year to bring representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutions to the US to strengthen talent and startup exchanges.

“The Taiwan-US strategic partnership is stronger than ever,” Hsiao said.

Organized by the Taiwan Next Foundation, the Taiwan Tech Summit is now in its fifth year. Its program included forums on physical AI and agentic AI, career panels, an expo, investor networking, one-on-one resume reviews, and workshops, per CNA.

Hsiao thanked the summit’s organizers, partners, and participants for helping connect Taiwanese and American talent and businesses. She invited participants to visit Taiwan and said she looked forward to continued exchanges.
