How did Dolly Parton become a national treasure?
It may be impossible to find someone who didn't like Dolly Parton. 💛
The country icon became a national treasure over a career spanning nearly seven decades. She wrote more than 3,000 songs, sold more than 100 million records and won 11 Grammys, while also finding success in movies, television and business.
But Parton was beloved for more than her accomplishments. She gave back to East Tennessee, supported hospitals, scholarships and disaster relief, and created the Imagination Library, which has mailed more than 300 million free books to children.
Through it all, she remained warm, funny and unmistakably herself. Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80.
