Tuesday, Sept. 30, marks the sixth annual observance for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—a dedicated time to honour the enduring legacy of residential schools and our ongoing journey of reconciliation.

CBC invites Canadians to learn the truths of our past and imagine our path forward to reconciliation. Join us across all platforms for a full day of special programming featuring music, documentaries, and live events.

CBC News Special: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join CBC News Chief Correspondent Adrienne Arsenault live from Ottawa for a special broadcast dedicated to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Explore CBC Gem’s Truth & Reconciliation Collection, available now. Featuring more than 40 films, specials, and documentaries. The collection honours the history, heritage, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

The Early Edition: In a special provincewide edition, the B.C. morning show will explore economic reconciliation and the ongoing work to address the intergenerational harms of the residential school system. Guests include Indigenous leaders and changemakers working in entrepreneurship, healthcare and community, along with music from Indigenous artists from across the country. Listen on CBC Radio One and CBC Listen from 5 to 8:30 a.m. PT.

On The Coast: Gloria Macarenko hosts a special provincewide afternoon program looking at where B.C. is on the path toward reconciliation and what’s possible for the future. Guests will share perspectives on residential schools and the Indian Boarding Home Program, education, and arts and culture with conversations focused on healing, change and the work still ahead. Listen from 3 to 6 p.m. PT on CBC Radio One and CBC Listen, with a livestream from 4 to 5 p.m.

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation Radio Special (8 p.m. local time across Canada): Join host Falen Johnson on CBC Radio as we mark the annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This special broadcast highlights key events from across the country and showcases Indigenous voices and perspectives.

Come Toward the Fire 2026: Hosted by Jarret Martineau, this festival celebrates Indigenous talent, creativity, and brilliance with live performances by Aysanabee, Logan Staats, Siibii, and more, captured on the main stage at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Airs Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. (2:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One and 5 p.m. (5:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Music.
