Hasbro Entertainment Advances ‘The Game of Life’ Film at Amazon MGM Studios

Hasbro Entertainment is moving forward with a feature film based on one of its most recognizable board games.

The company is developing The Game of Life at Amazon MGM Studios, with Sean Anders set to direct from a script by Allan Loeb. Anders will also produce alongside John Morris, with Zev Foreman producing for Hasbro Entertainment and Peter Chernin and David Ready producing for Chernin Entertainment.

The project extends Hasbro’s strategy of building entertainment franchises from its portfolio of legacy brands.

The Game of Life was born when Reuben Klamer was tapped by Milton Bradley to create a new game to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 1960. Inspired, in part, by The Checkered Game of Life (1860), The Game of Life has sold more than 70 million copies across 59 countries in 26 languages, first by Milton Bradley and later by Hasbro.

Hasbro continues to expand its content pipeline across partners and platforms. Current projects include Clue with Sony, a Monopoly film with Lionsgate, and multiple Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons productions in development at Netflix, as well as a live-action Power Rangers series for Disney+.

Plot details for The Game of Life remain under wraps.

The film adds another marquee title to Hasbro’s push to translate its gaming IP into long-form entertainment.
