The University of Toledo played host to a delegation of Belarusian business professionals this week, a visit designed to share the University’s expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation.
The U.S. Congressional Office for International Leadership arranged the Open World program visit to northwest Ohio to showcase how Toledo’s collaborative ecosystem supports people launching and growing small businesses. The group is being hosted locally by the World Affairs Council of Northwest Ohio.
UToledo hosted a delegation of Belarusian business professionals to share the University’s expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation, including its Business Incubator, a program to assist innovative and high-tech startups grow from concept to commercialization.
The stop at UToledo highlighted tech transfer, commercialization, mentorship and incubation initiatives for the group of five Belarusian small business owners, accompanied by a bicultural/lingual facilitator and an interpreter.
On campus, the delegation toured UToledo’s Business Incubator, a program that helps innovative and high-tech startups grow from concept to commercialization. The incubator supports entrepreneurs through access to capital, business resources and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and strategic partnerships.
The group also participated in a roundtable discussion with leading experts from UToledo Business Incubation, Neff College of Business and Innovation, Provost’s Office, College of Engineering and Technology Transfer.
The entire series of Toledo site visits, roundtables and working sessions with the area’s public, private and nonprofit leaders offered the Belarusian business leaders practical strategies, lessons learned and scalable ideas, with room for dialogue on international collaboration.
More than 31,000 current and future leaders have participated in the Open World program, a professional exchange built on the values of authentic communication and immersive cultural experiences.
