Free Gourock club to teach children coding and artificial intelligence
CHILDREN in Gourock will be able to learn coding and explore artificial intelligence at a new free club starting later this month.
The club will be held at The Old Library, 1A King Street, Gourock, and is aimed at Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils aged between eight and 12.
Sessions will run from 5pm to 6pm every Tuesday for eight weeks, beginning on October 27.
Creative Regeneration is delivering the programme through Digital Xtra, a scheme supporting digital skills and computing opportunities for young people across Scotland.
Children will use LEGO Education Computer Science and AI kits to build interactive models and learn coding through practical activities.
Organisers say participants will build smart models using LEGO bricks, learn coding step by step, explore how artificial intelligence works, develop problem-solving abilities and work with others on projects.
No previous experience is needed. The sessions are intended for beginners and children who already have an interest in technology.
All equipment and materials will be supplied free of charge, allowing children to take part without needing their own resources.
Creative Regeneration says places are limited and has asked parents and carers to register early.
