Ford, Chow, Joly making vaccine manufacturing announcement in Toronto

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is making a vaccine manufacturing announcement Wednesday morning in Toronto alongside several political leaders and executives with Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company.

Ford is joined by federal Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly, federal Minister of Health Marjorie Michel and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. Two members of Ford's cabinet will also be in attendance — Health Minister and Deputy Premier Sylvia Jones, and Minister of Economic Development Vic Fedeli.

Ford's government has supported vaccine manufacturing over the years.

In 2023, Ford announced $4 million in spending to bring manufacturing capacities to Ontario to create respiratory vaccines. Later in 2024, provincial leaders joined Sanofi for the grand opening of their $800 million facility in Toronto.
