FM Khanal leaves for New Delhi on an official visit to India
KATHMANDU, June 5: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal departed for India on Friday at the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Before his departure, Khanal said the visit would help strengthen the long-standing and multi-dimensional bilateral relations between Nepal and India, expressing confidence that the trip would be fruitful.
“This is an official visit by a representative of the Government of Nepal after a long time. The main focus will be on high-level bilateral dialogue and taking forward various areas of cooperation between the two sides,” he said.
Responding to remarks that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane had also visited India leading a party delegation, Khanal clarified that his visit was part of a pre-scheduled official program.
