Canada’s 159th birthday party in Penticton will wrap up with fireworks.
Special events coordinator Sarah Francis from the Penticton Lakeside Resort has confirmed with The Western News that the show will start on July 1 at 10 p.m., weather permitting, above Okanagan Lake Park.
Francis said the show is being made possible through sponsorships from local businesses.
Fireworks will come after a family-friendly day of fun inside Gyro Park.
Shawna Tinga, executive director of the Downtown Penticton Business Association, said the group is welcoming people for Canada Day festivities at the park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event — featuring face painting, a bouncy castle, goat petting area, reptile zoo, live entertainment and vendors — is being hosted in partnership with the City of Penticton.
There will also be free cupcakes while supplies last, after dignitary speeches.
Canada Day 2026 falls on a Wednesday.
