Exploring artificial intelligence at Inaugural Gulf Coast AI Summit

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The Inaugural Gulf Coast AI Summit brought together business owners, educators, healthcare professionals, and community members to explore the growing world of artificial intelligence.

The summit was held at MGCCC’s Hospitality and Resort Management Center in Biloxi.

The event featured discussions on cyber security, responsible AI use, workforce preparation, and how businesses can put their technology to work.

Attendees took part in hands-on workshops and explored emerging technology with the goal of making AI more accessible to people at every experience level. AI Summit Event Organizer Pamela Berry Johnson said, “AI is a current conversation and topic all over this country right now. I know people along the Gulf Coast are in their own little houses, businesses, and corners dealing with AI. They’re using it, making decisions, learning from it but we haven’t been in the conversation. So, I wanted to build a space where we have a public on ramp with just everyday regular people can hear from others about how they’re using it, some of the things they should know about it first, policies, just all the things we should know collectively. So, we can use AI in a way that is manageable, that makes sense, and that we can all make sure we’re making the right decisions about it.”

Organizers say the summit also created new opportunities for Mississippians to connect and get involved in the state’s growing AI community.
