Environment Canada issues GTA's 1st frost advisory of the season

Damage to plants, trees and crops is possible, according to national weather agency

The Greater Toronto Area is set to see its first near-freezing temperatures of the season Monday, Environment Canada says.

In its yellow frost advisory, the national weather agency said temperatures in the region are expected to fall tonight into early Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada is forecasting a low of 3 C Monday night, with northwest winds of 20 km/h gusting up to 40 km/h.

Damage to plants, trees and crops is possible, according to the advisory.

Environment Canada suggests protecting cold-sensitive plants and covering up crops in frost-prone areas.
