Drainage work planned for flood
Drainage work is planned to help tackle flooding issues in a village near Lincoln.
The county council said the "longstanding" problem had impacted homes in Cherry Willingham, with Fiskerton Road and Waterford Lane affected by standing water.
The work, which will begin on 20 July, will see improvements to drainage on both roads.
Danny Brookes, the council's executive member for the environment, said: "A great deal of investigation and design work has gone into understanding the issues, and this project will give the area a much more resilient system for the future."
He added: "Flooding has affected homes here several times in recent years, and this scheme will upgrade the drainage network so it can cope better with heavy rainfall."
The work will take place on weekdays in three phases, and is expected to last until the end of October.
There will be road closures on Fiskerton Road, just west of Waterford Lane, from 23 July to 15 August. Access from Lincoln to Fenland Hideaway will be maintained. Waterford Lane will remain open from the Fiskerton direction.
Fiskerton Road will be closed between Waterford Lane and Laburnum Drive from 17 August to 2 September. Waterford Lane will remain open from the Lincoln direction.
Part of Waterford Lane will be closed from 3 September to 25 September. The council said traffic lights would be used when possible to minimise the closure period. Fiskerton Road will remain open during this phase of the work.
