BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new movie theater will be opening in Downtown Buffalo this spring. Scene One Entertainment announced it will cut the ribbon on Market Arcade 8 on April 22.
The eight-screen theater will feature deluxe heated reclining seats and a full bar, pending license approval from the New York State Liquor Authority.
First day screenings will be $5 classic showings of "The Wizard of Oz," "The Natural," and "Bruce Almighty." Ticket sales on that day will benefit Hearts for the Homeless and the Elmwood Village Association
Starting April 23, the theater will switch over to its current slate:
Scene One also says "The Devil Wears Prada 2,” starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, will premiere on Friday, May 1.
2 On Your Side reported in February that Scene One Entertainment was taking over the former AMC space in Buffalo’s Theater District, across from Shea's. That theater closed at the end of December after AMC terminated its lease.
Scene One currently operates six theaters around the country, including three near Albany.
