Bike's driver seriously injured, airlifted to hospital
A 70-year-old woman was killed when the motorcycle she was on collided with a vehicle crossing a highway northeast of Winnipeg, RCMP say.
Police were sent to the intersection of Highway 44 and Provincial Road 212, just west of Garson, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The motorcycle, driven by a 66-year-old man, was heading east on Highway 44 when it hit the northbound vehicle, which crossed into the intersection, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday.
The man driving the motorcycle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital. The 70-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 19-year-old woman driving the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution but did not appear injured, RCMP said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said in the release.
