Climate reports forecast warming impact is 'effectively irreversible' in decades ahead

New reports published this week looking at the consequences of a warming planet have painted a sobering picture. Here in Canada, it could mean more wildfires and the loss of glaciers. This week, the UN declared that the planet will exceed a 1.5 degree increase in the next few years and will hit 1.8 degrees by 2050. Environment and Climate Change Canada published a report Thursday that forecasts a rise to 3.5 degrees or higher, with the impacts of warming considered "effectively irreversible" in the decades ahead. As Eric Sorensen explains, experts say action needs to be taken now if we want to limit the changes to our climate.
