The City of Montreal is holding a public visitation next week to honour Oliver Jones.

The late jazz legend died on July 22, at the age of 91.

"This visitation will allow all those who wish to pay their final respects to Oliver Jones's immense contribution to Montreal, Quebec and Canadian culture," the city wrote in a news release.

The award-winning jazz pianist was synonymous with Montreal's Jazz Festival, performing at the world renowned event every year between 1981 and 1999. But his influence went far beyond the city.
