Cheer on Canada for free: Hamilton Stadium to host viewing parties for FIFA World Cup
Forge FC will open Hamilton Stadium for three group stages games in June
Forge FC is inviting soccer fans to Hamilton Stadium this month to cheer on the men's national team at the FIFA World Cup — and admission is free.
The Hamilton-based Canadian Premier League club announced Tuesday it will host three public viewing parties during Canada's upcoming matches in the group stages.
The events will feature live broadcasts on the stadium's videoboard and inside the Captain's Lounge, along with family-friendly activities, appearances by Forge FC players and alumni, autograph sessions and giveaways.
"Soccer has a unique ability to bring communities together, and this summer is a special moment for the sport across Canada," Forge FC head coach and sporting director Bobby Smyrniotis said in a news release.
"We're proud to open Hamilton Stadium to supporters of all ages and create a space where fans can come together, celebrate the game and cheer on Canada."
Fans attending the viewing parties will also be able to access a designated section of the pitch for open play and small-sided games. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The viewing parties coincide with three Canada men's national team matches scheduled for June:
All three events are free and open to the public, though Forge FC is asking fans to RSVP.
"Supporters are encouraged to wear red and white and help create a memorable atmosphere at Hamilton Stadium," the release states.
